The GR button indicates that a spicy version may be planned.
The new Land Cruiser is Toyota’s most secretive model. Now, these highly detailed technical drawings claim to have been directly from the manufacturer. These drawings give a glimpse at the next-generation model. This is a huge surprise considering the J200 has been around almost 14 years.
This rugged SUV will be roughly the same length as the previous model, with an increase in the wheelbase by around two inches (5 cm) and shorter overhangs. If the next-generation model is not available, the splittailgate could be removed. However, there may be a more practical version.
Comparing the model with its replacement, it appears that there is more cladding on both the wheel arches and the quarter glass. Side mirrors are located lower than usual on the doors, rather than at the bases of the A-pillars. This is presumably to reduce wind noise and improve aerodynamics. Land Cruiser seems to have put more effort into the design of the hood, as it appears more detailed than ever before.
The roof-mounted spoiler seems to be sticking out more than ever before, and the taillights have an pronounced wraparound design. The J300 isn’t a radical departure from the previous model. However, it’s worth waiting for actual images to see what the exterior design looks like.
The cabin will see even more changes, particularly the central console that has the tablet-like infotainment system atop. It doesn’t necessarily signify that Toyota is making a high-performance Land Cruisier. It is possible that it will be reserved for a GR Sport model in the same vein of the GR Sport . This version will have visual upgrades and only a few mechanical modifications.
Technical drawings show all options for wheels, from a set of 17-inch steelies to a range of 20-inch alloys. There are a variety of four- and 6-cylinder engines available, as well as electrification. There are rumors that a range-topper could have a twin-turbo V8 with the next Lexus. However, it remains to be confirmed. A new twin-turbo, 3.3-liter diesel is also available for certain markets.
We believe that the technical drawings match the spy shots, and we are confident they are the real deal. Although details regarding the engines are not clear due to too many contradicting reports at the moment, we believe that the reveal will take place within the next few months.
