2023 Kia Niro Unveiled With A Brand New Design Inside And Outside

This funky crossover is nothing like its predecessor.

The old Kia Niro was not the most striking of small crossovers, electrified and otherwise. After being completely redesigned inside and out, the new model has a lot more flair. This is one of those rare instances when the next generation vehicle is virtually identical to its predecessor.

This is not always a good thing. Some prefer that automakers play it safe, rather than giving their cars radical overhauls. The 2023 Niro is likely to be a love/hate relationship, depending on your side. This type of exterior design will not leave you indifferent. It is reminiscent of other bold Kia models, such as the larger Sportsage SUV.

The funky exterior may seem a little familiar. The 2019 HabaNiro Concept cues can be clearly seen, from the LED daytime run light signature to the contrast rear pillar. Two-tone Niro HEV alloy wheels with “Y” spokes also look like the showcar. The curved, boomerang-shaped taillights and curved rear lights are another example of the showcar’s design.

It’s hard not to notice the width of the C-pillar. This could make it difficult to back out of a parking spot due to poor visibility. The HabaNiro’s front doors were replaced with conventional front doors. In addition, conventional rear doors were added and conventional mirrors were installed to replace the cameras.

The interior was also completely redesigned. It looks much more luxurious and has a dashboard layout that is similar to the Sportage. We are familiar with Kia’s side-by sides screens. There are many controls for climate and other functions. This arrangement is our favorite because it allows us to quickly access certain amenities without having navigate through the menus.

The old Niro’s gear lever was cumbersome and has been replaced with a more sleek rotary knob. This frees up space in the lower portion of the center console. Additional buttons are located on the shifter for heated and ventilated seats and heated steering wheel.

Kia claims that the headliner is made of recycled wallpaper, while the seats are Bio PU with Tencel made from eucalyptus leafs. The door panels have been painted with BTX, a water-based paint that does not contain benzene or toluene and xylene isomers.

The crossover was unveiled by the South Korean brand at the 2021 Seoul Mobility Show. However, no technical details were provided. It will be available in hybrid, plugin hybrid and EV configurations once again, we know this. Next year is the date for its market launch.
