Mazda MX-5 Miata Radio RF gets even more power for 2019

SkyActiv’s 2.0-liter SkyActiv engine produces 181 horsepower and 151 pound feet of torque.

The Miata was just getting better. Mazda introduced a new RF model for 2019. The two-seat coupe will be available for purchase in August with an impressive 181 horsepower (134kilowatts) as well as 151 pound-feet (254 Newton-meters) torque.

This number is 26-hp (19-kW), more than the previous model, and three lb-ft (4 Nm) more. You can choose between a six speed manual or automatic six-speed transmission with the 2.0-liter SkyActiv engine. Optional packages are available for those who want more from their Miatas.

The GT-S package includes elements such as a front shock tower brace and a limited-slip back differential. Bilstein dampers are also included. A hand-painted black roof is also available. The Club model is unchanged and still features standard Bilstein dampers and a shock tower brace. If you choose the manual transmission, it also has a limited slip rear differential.

MX-5 Club members can also purchase an iActivSense Club Package, which includes Smart City Brake Support as well as a lane departure warning. Brembo/BBS Package includes front Brembo rotors, red-painted brakes calipers and 17-inch gunmetal BBS forged alloy wheels. There are also functional side sill extensions and heated leather-upholstered seating.

The Brembo/BBS/Recaro Package offers even more. The package includes all the features of the Brembo/BBS Package but has leather seats instead of heated Recaro buckets. It also features a black-painted roof, similar to the RF GT-S.

The 2019 Mazda Miata RF is available at a starting price of $32,345 with a base model and a six-speed manual. The Brembo/BBS Package costs $3,770 more than the base model and the Brembo/BBS/Recaro adds $4,670. The MX-5 Club will cost you $32,945 with a six speed automatic and the iActivSense package will add $450.

The Grand Touring loaded trim will come in at $33,335, with the manual transmission, and the GT-S Package will add $750. The Grand Touring trim equipped with an automatic Miata RF will cost $34,410 and Auburn Nappa leather will add $300. Three paint options are available: Soul Red Crystal (595), Machine Grey metallic ($300) and Snowflake White Pearl Mica (200).
