The weather is heating up in the northern hemisphere and it’s time for outdoor fun. Nissan offers the perfect way to get the entire family out into the wild with the Armada Mountain Patrolone off. The rugged rig will be unveiled at Overland Expo West, Fort Tuthill County Park, Flagstaff, Arizona on May 18. It will also be available at other outdoor-oriented events throughout 2018.
Nissan claims that the Armada Mountain Patrol was designed for overlanding, which is a form of off-roading that involves camping in the wilderness. This means the SUV must be able to handle difficult terrain and also have the ability to transport lots of supplies. These modifications allow this machine to be able to perform both of these tasks.
This Armada’s body is built with custom-fabricated steel bumpers for motoring on rough terrain. There’s an LED light bar mounted on the roof, fog lights and lighting for the wheel wells so you don’t have to worry about lighting your way at night. This machine features a Warn Platinum Series winch that weighs 12,000 pounds (5,443 kilograms), a set of vehicle recovery boards and storage for additional fuel. Lowrance’s navigation system and offroad radio make it easy to avoid getting lost.
The Armada’s coilover suspension is from Icon Vehicle Dynamics. It has a high ride height and comes with extended A-arms. Underbody protection protects the mechanical parts that are vulnerable to damage while off-road. Magnaflow exhaust makes the 5.6-liter V8 sound more meaner.
There’s a tent for four people on the SUV’s roof that can be used as a place to rest when the need arises. Although the Armada can hold eight people, there is a pop-up tent that allows the other occupants to rest on the ground. A retractable awning offers a cool place to relax before going to bed. You can even enjoy a cold drink at night with Otterbox Venture coolers and refrigerator/freezer in the rig.
