This concept is supposedly a preview of the all-electric Porsche 718.
Porsche showed the Mission R Concept to preview the future of the automaker. However, there are rumors that it may be more than just the first all-electric Porsche 718. The Mission R reportedly previews the all electric Porsche 718 which will debut in 2024. This concept gives a good idea of the production version. A new rendering in five colors previews it.
According to the report, the Mission R is a Porsche 718-inspired coupe. The rendering shows that the Mission R has lost the race-inspired parts such as the large rear wing, open front fascia and roof wings. The yellow grille accents are gone in the rendering. Daytime running lights and slats are added to the outside intakes. Although it’s subtle, Porsche could make larger changes to the production model.
The Mission R’s side features are more distinct, but blend in well with the design. The lower door opens up for easier ingress and exit. The lower body is not as curved into the vehicle giving it a production car feel. However, there are no handles. Side-view mirrors with long stalks are included in the rendering, as well as new rear window glass. The concept’s thick tires are replaced by big wheels that fill in the wheel wells.
Porsche has not confirmed that the all-electric Porsche 718 will be a deal. The company has its own targets, such as curb weight and range. The entry-level model will be equipped with a rear motor, while the top-end trims will feature a dual-motor, all wheel-drive configuration. The production version is unlikely to have the same power as the concept. It has 1,073 horsepower (800kilowatts) and Porsche claims it can take the EV from 0 to 62 miles an hour (100 km per hour) in 2.5 seconds.
